Valplast Introduces Material Authentication Program

Valplast International Corp is excited to announce that we are phasing in serialized authentication cards to accompany Valplast® resin cartridges. The uniquely numbered cards provide the laboratory with a place to record the Valplast® material lot number used for the denture as well as the laboratory’s Valplast Processing Lab Certification ID number. The laboratory can also record the serial number from the card for their own records for compliance with state and federal regulations or quality management systems. The dentist can complete the information with the patient name, insertion date, and dentist’s name for the patient’s own records and for use when the patient registers their partial at www.valplast.com. Our introduction of this authentication program will help control the illicit use of counterfeit materials and misbranding, enhance identification and traceability of the material used in the denture, and protect the investment and commitment made by laboratories who use the Valplast® brand for flexible partial dentures. Laboratories can obtain more information and sample pamphlets at www.valplast.com/register.

First Annual Arpad Awards and Conference for Valplast Technicians Hosted in Monte-Carlo

Monte-Carlo, April 25, 2009 – Intech srl., exclusive distributor for Valplast in Italy, France, Greece and Benelux, hosted the first annual Arpad Awards and Conference from April 24-25, 2009. More than 80 technicians, lab owners and dentists attended the event, which was held at Le Meridien Beach Hotel and Resort Monte-Carlo in the Principality of Monaco. The two-day event was filled with presentations on Valplast techniques, new products and sales and marketing ideas for Valplast users in the territory. The conference was held in Italian, French and English languages.

Valplast technicians were invited to submit clinical case histories and present them at the event for the opportunity to win a cash prize of 5,000 €. The 2009 Arpad Award was given to the technician that presented the best clinical Valplast case based on the difficulty of the case, originality of the design and application, and that quality of the presentation by the technician during the conference. The award is named after Arpad F. Nagy, inventor of the flexible partial denture and founder of Valplast International Corporation who passed away on October 26, 2008.

The recipient of the 2009 Arpad Award was Gennaro Tuccillo from Laboratorio Odontotecnico Valtech in Naples, Italy (www.valplastvaltechlab.it). The laboratory picked up the Valplast system two years ago and has since changed their business model to specialize in Valplast prosthetic cases including partials, full dentures, implant retained Valplast dentures and maxillofacial cases. The winning case was a Valplast prosthesis made for a 60 year old female who suffers from a congenital malformation of the maxilla. The prosthesis was designed not only as a functional device but also to recreate the patient’s smile with excellent aesthetics.

Riccardo Moffa, President and CEO of Intech srl. (Italy) and i-Plast (Monaco) commented on the conference’s success by stating “it is an honor to continue the Valplast tradition of innovation in dental laboratory technology by offering this prestigious award in the name of Mr. Nagy to a deserving technician in Europe.” Moffa also confirmed that there will be a 2010 Arpad Awards and future plans will be to expand the Arpad Awards to include other countries in Europe. Justin Marks, Business Development Manager for Valplast International Corporation (New York, USA) hinted that there may be a North American version of the Arpad Awards in Valplast’s future. Marks, who also served on the adjudication panel for the event, commented on the awards by saying “we evaluated more than 30 cases from 13 different technicians. All of them demonstrated outstanding technique and originality and it was very difficult to select only one winner out of all the cases that were submitted. In the end we feel we chose a winner that was not only a well fabricated case but also demonstrated originality and creativity in using Valplast as the preferred restorative option for this rare and unusual case.” View the winning case selection here.
